New Reader for St Cross
Licensing Service at Chester Cathedral was held on 17th October and the parish enjoyed a celebration service at St Cross on 18th October.
Bishop Peter admitted and licensed 16 new Readers at a special service on 17th October. The parish of St Cross was well represented with many travelling to the event by the coach. A large congregation enjoyed the celebration. Supporters of the Readers were invited to stand as "their" Reader was licensed. Julie said afterwards " I was very moved as I entered the cathedral at the start of the service to see so many familiar faces from the parish beaming at me! It was a humbling moment!"
The next day there was a special celebration and Vicar Jayne "presented" Julie to the congregation and the license was read out. The service was followed by a bring and share lunch for family and friends. Julie said "It was a lovely weekend. Thanks to all who helped to make it so special."
