St. Cross Toy Collection for local children

On the first Sunday of Advent we welcomed Bridget and Kathryn to our morning service to receive the wrapped new toys and craft gifts from our congregation.  The gifts will be opened by local children at their Christmas Party this month.

Angela, the Vicar's wife gave the 'All - Age address' and the children excitedly opened a stocking with gifts. The surprise gift was a steam engine and Angela spoke about the importance of a fire to be kept going to make the engine work by producing steam. We too must be on fire for Jesus if we are to serve God effectively in the world.   Kathryn thanked the congregation at the end of the service and shared a little of Cheshire Home-Start's work in supporting local families.

A special thanks must be given to Mary, one of our Reader Ministers, who organised the collection and was not able to be present on this occasion.

Pictured below are some of our young children, with our Vicar Paul, and Kathryn and Bridget.
