How life changed in March 2020. We have all been affected by Covid restrictions, one way or another.
Anxiety and stress levels are likely to have risen in the most loving and stable of homes but in some, hidden behind closed doors where abuse may already have been a concern, Lockdowns have proved even more of a strain on relationships.
My CWA is there to support any one who is living in a vulnerable situation which may be caused by domestic, physical, sexual, or financial abuse.
It is reassuring to know there is safe temporary accommodation for people who fear immediate danger and need to escape quickly. From the safety of these houses many more services can be offered to ensure a positive move forward to develop a secure and stable future.
St Cross Church is offering their support during Lent by agreeing to provide some essential items for anyone who has fled from their home and arrived at a Safe House empty handed.
We are asking for donations of new towels, new Pyjamas, Underwear, Socks (men’s, ladies, children, any size)
A box will be provided in the south aisle of the church by the display board and the collection will close at Easter.
Actually buying these items might prove difficult for quite a number of us so monetary donations will be very much appreciated and we will make these purchases for you.
Please put money in the small box on the table or give to Revd Paul Deakin or Mary Daw in a clearly marked envelope 'LENT APPEAL'.
I am sure we all want to build a community where adults and children can live freely and happily.
Mary Daw
