For our second year we opened the beautifully decorated church on the last Sunday before Christmas to allow families who have lost a loved one to come and spend some time in the quietness and serenity of St Cross Church. Due the pandemic preventing us having a Requiem Service on All Souls Night we invited allfamilies who have had a funeral service conducted by ourselves in the last year. Over fifty people came at carefully planned time intervals and candles were safely spaced out around the Church so people could 'light-a-light' in memory of a loved one. Christmas Carols played softly in the backgorund and ministers were available to talk and pray with visitors.
The whole afternoon went so well we plan to repeat this in future years. I would like to thank all those involved in organising this outreach and also those who gave generously to the 'flower fund'.
'Through Christ you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God.' (1 Peter 1.21)
