We have had a wonderful weekend celebrating Harvest and our Patronal Festival. Many helped decorate the church on Saturday to leave it beautiful for our services on the Sunday (see the photos). Saturday culminated in a social event entitled 'Bangers and Beetle' ! This was hot dogs, and a pudding, welcomed after the days work. However the highlight was a Beetle Drive. Never have I seen so many have such excitement and fun throwing dice and drawing a Beetle - who needs playstations!!
Harvest Sunday is one of those days in the year when we have only one morning service so it is an opportunity for the whole congregation to be together. This was enhanced by a Baptism so the congregation in total was about 130.
The evening service at 6.30 was a Deanery Choral Evensong which the Archdeacon of Macclesfield Ian Bishop led. A large congregation of about 50 had the pleasure of listening to the Deanery Choir, conducted by Hilary Skinner, sing beautifully, and many compliments were expresed by those atending. Refreshments were served in the church rooms afterwards and a wonderful sense of friendship and fellowship was experienced by all.
