The Vicar writes………

This newsletter comes to you as we move through Eastertide.  Holy week this year was so special and gave us all the opportunity to quietly reflect on the last week of Jesus’ earthly life.  The week began with a small group gathering for a quiet day, centred around readings from Mark’s gospel.  It gave each of us some quiet time to spend in the Lord’s presence and meditate upon his life.  When one is fully engaged in Holy Week, beginning with the high of the triumphant entry into Jerusalem celebrated on Palm Sunday, one then begins the emotional aspect of Holy Week.  This week encompasses the lows and highs of Christ’s experience in the lead up to Good Friday and Easter Day.

It was a joy to see so many young people and their parents attend the Good Friday workshop to hear again the story of Jesus’ love for us.  Building on from this and with the increasing attendance at Family Services it is wonderful to say we will begin a Young Church, staring on the 20th May during the 10am service.  I would encourage you all to promote and encourage those you know to come along, so our young people can begin to understand the stories of Jesus.

Whilst every Sunday should be an ‘Easter Sunday’ the celebration of the resurrection was special given the beauty of the church, and the music, sung beautifully by our new music group who have helped us to embrace the new setting for the Eucharist.  The joy of Easter leads us now into Ascension Day and Pentecost.  As the church began on Pentecost when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit so may it be our prayer that each one of us can be filled again and act as witness within our community here in Knutsford. I would like to thank everyone who attended the Annual Church Meeting.  My grateful thanks are also extended to those who work tirelessly within our Church and assist me in my ministry here at St Cross.

Yours in His Service , Paul
