St Cross Church is a Grade 2* listed historical building. We seek to welcome all people into this beautiful place of worship and prayer.
Car Parking and Arrival
The church has an unmarked car park accommodating approximately 18 vehicles. There is one space for 'Blue Badge' parking adjacent to the vicarage / garage and this is clearly indicated. The walk from the car park to the church is on gently graded or level paths.
The main access door to the Church is at the West End (furthest from the road) and four easily graded steps must be climbed. Handrails are available. The Accessible Entrance with a large door and no steps is on the North Side by the graveyard and is clearly marked as such.
Inside the Church
The Church has a full loop system for the hard of hearing and hearing aid users should switch to 'T' on their earpiece. We can accommodate powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Some areas of the church do necessitate climbing steps. These are the Chancel and the Lady Chapel where handrails are provided. The vast majority of services take place in the body of the Church (the Nave).
Toilets
There are toilets situated in the Parish Hall which can be accessed at service times through the internal door on the South Side of the Church. There is an Accessible Toilet at the same level of the church and this also has baby changing facilities. This facility exceeds the minimum legal requirements for size, so wheelchair users should have no access concerns in this regard. The other toilets are located at the top of the steps at the end of the corridor (the Parish Hall entrance) though the Gents also has a folding baby changing table there too.
Community Groups using the Hall
For evening meetings users entering the Parish Hall will need to use six steps. For those needing level access the church will be opened by prior arrangement to permit this.
